Oregon DJ Prom and Homecoming FAQ: What Schools Actually Need to Know
Schools across Oregon ask us similar questions every year about booking DJ entertainment for prom and homecoming. Here are the most common ones, answered directly.
How far in advance should we book?
For spring prom (April–May), start looking in January or February. Popular dates — especially Saturdays close to graduation — fill by March. For homecoming (September–October), reach out in August.
How much does a DJ cost for prom or homecoming?
A DJ for a school dance typically runs $1,250–$2,000 for a 4–5 hour event, depending on the vendor and services included. Some schools also add a photo booth for $545–$895, which is our most-requested school event combo.
Do you work with ASB purchase order processes?
Yes. We provide W-9 forms, can invoice through school purchasing systems, and can work with ASB coordinators on approval timelines. We’ve done this with multiple Oregon high schools.
What about content filters and do-not-play lists?
Standard practice. Before the event, we ask for your do-not-play list and any content restrictions. We apply them throughout the night without making the restrictions obvious to students.
Can students submit song requests in advance?
Yes. We use an online music planner where your ASB can share a link with the student body. Students submit requests ahead of time, and we build the night around what they actually want to hear.
What happens at the end of the night with curfews and sound cutoffs?
We know how to build toward a closing moment. We track your venue’s sound cutoff and execute a proper last-song/sendoff rather than an abrupt stop. It makes a real difference in how the night ends.
Do you have experience with gym venues?
Yes. Gyms have their own acoustic challenges — hard floors, high ceilings, reflective surfaces. We know how to set up and calibrate for gym acoustics. We’ve worked in gymnasiums, hotel ballrooms, and dedicated event spaces.
Can we add a photo booth?
Yes. Our most-booked school combo is DJ + photo booth. Both are operated by the same team, setup at the same time, one invoice. The photo booth includes custom overlays in your school colors and a shareable digital gallery.
