Willamette Heritage Center

The Willamette Heritage Center trades ballroom carpet for brick and mill timber, which looks great in photos and bounces sound if nobody plans for it. We have set up DJ rigs and photo booths inside its brick rooms, including prom, and our studio is in downtown Salem, so there is no travel fee. This is our working guide to the venue.

Setup notes from our events here

Sound in a brick mill

Brick walls and old timber reflect sound. We size the system to the room instead of overpowering it, keep the speakers tight to the dance floor, and ride the volume so guests can still talk at dinner. Loud enough to dance, quiet enough to visit.

Where the DJ goes

Our rig here is a black-scrimmed booth, speakers, dance lighting, and a projector screen set along the brick, the same setup you can see in our school dance photo below. It fits the room without eating the dance floor.

Booth placement

We have run a photo booth in the venue's brick-walled rooms with a prop table, printer, and white backdrop. The white backdrop keeps faces clean against all that brick, and the booth needs a wall spot with power, out of the food line.

Proms and school dances

We have DJ'd prom at the Heritage Center, and the video on this page is the proof. The Event DJ package, $1,250 for 3 hours, fits school budgets, and any booth is $200 off when it runs alongside an Event DJ.

Load-in and timeline

Historic buildings deserve care, so we coordinate load-in with the venue and finish setup before guests walk in. Your timeline, announcements, and music get planned online ahead of time, so the night runs without surprises.

No travel fee

Our studio is at 285 Liberty St NE in downtown Salem, inside the Forge Building. Salem and Keizer events never pay a travel fee, and that includes the Heritage Center.

Willamette Heritage Center questions

How much does a DJ cost at the Willamette Heritage Center?
Our Wedding DJ is $1,650 for five hours, with ceremony sound, MC, dance lighting, and custom uplighting included. For proms, school dances, and parties, the Event DJ is $1,250 for three hours. No travel fee, the venue is in Salem and so are we.
Can you fit a photo booth inside the Heritage Center?
Yes. We have set up a prop table, printer, and white backdrop against the brick. Booths start at $545 across seven styles. Every booth includes instant text delivery, a custom overlay, and an online gallery. Most styles include an attendant; the Companion is self-serve.
Have you actually worked events at the Willamette Heritage Center?
Yes. The DJ setup and photo booth photos on this page were taken inside the venue, and the video is our prom setup there. We have run 2,000+ events across Oregon since 2006.
How do you handle sound in the brick rooms?
Hard walls reflect sound, so we size the system to the room instead of overpowering it, aim the speakers at the dance floor, and keep dinner volume low enough for conversation.
Does Apogee charge a travel fee for Salem venues?
No. Salem and Keizer events never pay a travel fee. Our studio is at 285 Liberty St NE in downtown Salem, inside Cellar 54 in the Forge Building.
